Rush Just Said What I’ve Said for Months!

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Rush Limbaugh admitted that he was slow to this concept, but that he realizes the Dems are willing to lose their majorities in 2010 to get this horror of non-healthcare ensconced permanently.

I told you this was coming months ago, and many couldn’t believe it. “Come on, politicians all want to keep their jobs!” some said. Well, not these radical libs, who want this more than anything. Maybe not all—like Ben Nelson—want this so bad they are willing to lose their jobs, but those few have been bought off by the uber-radicals.
And our fine minority leader, Mitch McConnell, goes on the floor of the Senate to talk about how his is friends with Harry Reid. Sickening.

    Re: Nelson

As a NE resident, a couple of connected thoughts:

I suspect Nelson was probably contemplating not running in 2012 anyway. Although he was elected just back in 2000, he will be 71 in 2012 when he would be next up for re-election. Not as old as some but not young either.

Although he won fairly easily last time, it was in ‘06 when the general tide was running against Republicans. And his opponent, although decent, was kind of a goofball with what looked like a fairly small budget (judging by his campaign spots).

Further complicating a re-election bid is that most of Nebraska is fairly conservative which would possibly make Nelson vulnerable if you have an anti-Democrat/anti-incumbent/anti-Obama sentiment. Keep in mind that last year, during the Obama victory when NE’s split electoral college vote gave Obama one EC vote from eastern NE (a relatively more liberal area of the state) a fairly conservative Republican – Mike Johanns – was elected to succeed the moderate Chuck Hagel. And the local R congressman Lee Terry – who votes pretty well but is hardly inspiring – was also re-elected.

Further, the core of Nelson’s re-election campaign in 2006 was claiming he would NOT be simply a yes-man to the Reid-Pelosi crowd. And, he took a strong stand against illegal immigration that year & was supportive of the war in Iraq.

So, put that all together and I think Nelson figured that even voting against health care may not be enought to separate him from a possible anti-Democrat move in 2012, coupled with his age, and so he would vote the way he believed (i.e. big government solution). And, if the economy picks up between now & then, he could always run if the numbers looked right.

  2. Dont you think they will get kick backs if they are kicked out? There is a ton of progressive money out there waiting to go to these guys that put the agenda through. They are just a bunch of rats waiting for their payoff.

  3. I have always maintained that even if the Dems are given the boot, Obama has cabinet and ambassadorial positions waiting for a lot of them.
